Interview with Charles Smith, a community leader, concerning his experiences as a resident of Hamilton Park, Texas from 1956 to 1989. Smith discusses his childhood in East Texas, his decision to purchase a home in Hamilton Park, social activities, the Civic League, property maintenance and deed restrictions, the widening of Forest Lane, the widening of Schroeder Road, and the extension of Shepherd Road. He also talks about relations with Texas Instruments, zoning problems, the establishment of a Crime Watch program in 1986, industrial encroachment, environmental problems, Willowdell Park, Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center, real estate speculation, and the Homeowner's League.

Retired Justice of the Washington Supreme Court and prosecutor for the United States Department of Justice, Charles Zellender Smith was born on February 23, 1927, in Lakeland, Florida. Son of John R.
